Another weekend is here, Asheville! And once again it's filled with all sorts of wonderful things to do. We've rounded up our favorites, and we want to know what we missed that you're excited about! Thursday 9/15 Charlotte Street: Streetcar Suburb to Modern Corridor @ St. Mary's Episcopal Church 5:30-7 pm Discover the history of one of Asheville's oldest and most iconic streets during this talk by two members of the Preservation Society of Asheville. Argentinian Asado Dinner @ Hickory Nut Gap Farms 6-9 pm At $80, it's pricey, but when else are you going to have locally-sourced, humanely-raised meat prepared by world-class chefs at the farm? Four HNG meats will be served alongside traditional empanadas, salads, and other sides. Get tickets here.   Friday 9/16 Downtown After 5 5-9 pm Another entry in the phenomenal Downtown After 5 series. Fabulous free music and downtown liveliness starting at 5 pm! This is the last entry in this year's show features headliners Cracker and opener The Dirty Badgers.   Soumu @ the Salvage Station 5 pm-12 am This is the 4th entry in the Soumu event series, and it's free! Join this celebration of African culture, dance, and food at the Salvage Station. Performances from Les Amis, the Imani School of Dance, Kevin Spears, and students from LEAF Community Arts. Proceeds go to the Djembeso Drum & Dance Education Center. And head back to the Salvage Station for the Wham! Bam! Bowie Band on Saturday night.   Saturday 9/17 Art in Autumn @ Main St. Weaverville  10-6 pm Main St. in Weaverville will be filled with arts and crafts vendors in this favorite fall arts festival, happening in our neighbor to the north!    Haywood Rd Cleanup Day @ Haywood Rd 10-12 noon Join forces with the community in the spirit of service! The cleanup starts at the WALK and will concentrate on the east section of Haywood Rd in West Asheville.   Brewgrass Festival @ Memorial Stadium 1-6 pm Have your tickets for Brewgrass yet? Come and play at Memorial Stadium! Live music, fun, and of course beer will complete your afternoon. Congratulations to our new Mayor of Brewgrass, and thanks to everyone who entered this great contest! Come say hi at our Brewgrass booth on Saturday. Take on a dare or answer a trivia question and win a prize! We'll be there with the folks from NC Photo Box, who will have everything you need for your Brewgrass photoshoot at their amazing booth!   BEATLIFE: A Tribute to D F L N (Derrick Curtis) @ the Mothlight 9 pm - 2 am This edition of BEATLIFE pays homage to the late NC producer DFLN (Dreams From Last Night--Derrick Curtis), whose significant legacy made an impact on regional beatmakers and musicians. They're coming together to celebrate the life and work of this remarkable musician and man. Featuring sets from Panther God, Atlanta-based 10th Letter, and AVL Beat Tape Collective Founder Nigel One. $5.   Sunday 9/18 Asheville Outdoor Show @ Highland Brewing 12-4 pm Presented by Diamond Brand, the Asheville Outdoor Show has a huge (and growing!) list of vendors that will be on site to get you excited about all of the outdoor opportunities in these beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains! Live music and games!   Open Streets Asheville @ Downtown Streets 1-5 pm A car-free Sunday in downtown Asheville! Bring your bikes, walking shoes, big wheels, and more and tool around on the blissfully car-less avenues of Asheville. Visit the pop-up playground, try your hand at juggling, take in live performances, and stop into a local shop. It will be nice not to hear sirens screaming for once, am I right?   Burlesque 101 Graduation @ Trade and Lore Coffee Let's get together to celebrate graduation...and burlesque! After six weeks in an intensive burlesque training, these performers are ready for their close-ups. They'll take the stage at Trade and Lore with the goal of delighting and dazzling basically everyone within a 50-mile radius. $5.
