Well Played GritVegas Update
We're now a few days past the equinox, and the first weekend of spring is officially here! There are plenty of ways you can celebrate, whether you get outside to enjoy the season or cozy up inside to fend off the chill that's still lingering in the air. We've got all the highlights for you, including the details of our featured event, the Grand Opening of Well Played Board Game Cafe!  Thursday, 3/23 Little Stranger @ The Salvage Station  9 pm - 12 am Indie rockers from Charleston by way of Philly. Catch them for free while you still can.  Bella's Bartok @ The One Stop at Asheville Music Hall 10 pm - 2 am "Folk-punk" rockers descend on the One Stop. A show with them has been described as "about as much fun as you can have with your pants on" (Dan Wolovick, Two Way Monologues). Be sure to catch them on Soundcheck AVL! Friday, 3/24 Night of the Songstress with Jane Kramer & Anya Hinkle @ Habitat Brewing 8-10 pm Experience the lilting melodies of two songstresses who excel at their craft. Kramer brings the moonlight gypsy magic and Hinkle (of Tellico) calls down folk melodies from the mountains themselves. The Three Davids Concert @ Diana Wortham Theatre 8-10 pm Three world-class performers, David LaMotte, David Holt, and David Wilcox, come together to perform some of their favorite "uncovered" tunes: it's the Greatest Songs You've Never Heard Of!  BEAT LIFE with Prof. Logik, Tyler Ambrosius, Lavier, & Vietnam Jerry @ the Mothlight 10 pm - 1 am For $5, you'll get all the best beats music the region can offer. Artists will visit all the way from Alabama to bring their magic to the stage, and to the dance floor.  Saturday, 3/25 Featured event Well Played Board Game Cafe Grand Opening @ 58 Wall St 11 am - 1 am Asheville's first board game cafe is finally open! Celebrate by stopping by to play your favorite childhood game or try a new one. Local beer, wine, and delicious bar food, including updated charcuterie "Lunchables," adult grilled cheese, Goldfish, and animal crackers. It costs $5 to play all day, or just stop by the bar for a quick game (free).  The {Re}HAPPENING @ Lake Eden 3 - 10 pm The {Re}HAPPENING is re-happening, y'all! This day-long event honors the legacy of Black Mountain College, the groundbreaking arts school that made its home at Lake Eden, through performances, installations, art, and celebration. This is one of our favorite events of the year, so don't miss it. Asheville Grit will be doing coverage from the scene! Sunday, 3/26 MG Flea @ MG Road 12 - 5 pm MG Flea got off to a rip-roarin' start. Make this a Sunday tradition and stop by for the best in ancient and modern, trash and treasures, glitz and grit! Every last Sunday of the month. Free coffee, plus mimosas, bloodies, and grab-and-go breakfasts. Rise Up and Read Together: Andrew Aydin Presents March @ Malaprop's Bookstore and Cafe 3 pm Asheville's newest and most literary citywide reading initiative brings Andrew Aydin, co-creator of the graphic novel/memoir March (with Congressman John Lewis and Nate Powell) to the beloved bookstore to start an all-city conversation about civil rights and our changing world.
