Summer is coming. Dubstep is in the air.
It’s okay, I get a little freaked at that word too, but
Vaski is a refreshing voice in the ever-evolving (or mutating) genre. With careful craftsmanship and a sonic sensitivity that ranges from chilled, melodic electro (
“Weightless”) to high-energy party bass (
"Where You Wanna Go"), it’s no surprise the 25-year-old Minneapolis native has been crushing the global electronic stage since he was a teenager.
Raised on his father’s love for ‘90s house and trance, Vaski grew into his own when he discovered drum-and-bass and the hard breaks of
Prodigy. It was the early days of dubstep that swept him away to new horizons, a beautiful, nasty whirlwind he’s been bringing to excitable clubbers ever since. And heads up, lover of cute boys: he’s a cute boy!
Atlanta-based jamtronica duo
Lucidea and Asheville’s own
Marley Carroll kick the night off. And y’all know how much I adore seeing Marley, who after months of studio work is currently out spinning a smattering of new material. Oh hell yes.
