Downtown's best street party is back this Friday with
The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker and
Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics bringing the soul to
Downtown After 5, presented Harmony Motors. Taking place the third Friday of the month on North Lexington Avenue at I240, Downtown After 5 is always free.
Described as a well-rounded soul machine that takes very seriously its sacred mandate of carrying the torch of "real" soul music forward, The Dynamites continue their relentless commitment to the greatest, most positive and celebratory musical art form in America. With roots embedded in Georgia soul, Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics bring that 50's and 60's R&B sound to the Downtown After 5 stage.
A $2 wristband is required to purchase alcohol and August's nonprofit wristband partner is Asheville City Schools Foundation. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Asheville City Schools Foundation supports the students of the nine Asheville City Schools through volunteer academic coaching, after school programs, scholarships, emergency assistance to families in crisis, and grants for teachers.

irsty concert-goers will find plenty to wet their whistle including local brews from
Pisgah Brewing,
Asheville Brewing Company,
Catawba Brewing and
French Broad Brewing Company. Plus, regional favorites Sierra Nevada, SweetWater Brewing and Foothills Brewing as well as national brands from Budweiser of Asheville and Empire Distributors will be on tap. Wine, soda and water will also be available for purchase.
From sandwiches to popcorn and ice cream to wraps, food vendors offer a something for everyone’s taste. Food vendors include: Rosetta’s Kitchen, Ultimate Ice Cream, Nick’s Grill, Kettle Corn, Lobster Trap, D.O.G.S., The Lowdown Food Truck and Gypsy Queen Cuisine.
H&A Productions hosts a kid’s area with the What-a-Wall featuring magnet, felt and chalk boards. They also bring along their supersized games to entertain the young ones.
