Valentine's Day is on Tuesday, and things are already getting steamy on our list of events this weekend. Here's what's going down. Thursday, February 9 Beyond Logging: The Future of Our Forests @ The Collider 5:30-8 pm Because saving our Southern forests is sexy, y'all. Join Dogwood Alliance, Defenders of Wildlife, and MountainTrue for an evening with special guest Jim Furnish, former Deputy Chief of the United States Forest Service. Furnish will discuss his memoir, Toward a Natural Forest: The Forest Service in Transition. The talk will be followed by a panel of local experts on forest management, and there will be Q&A, book signing, and reception. Free event. The Blackout Diaries @ Pulp 9 pm - 12 am This interactive stand-up comedy show is all about what happens when people black out. Photos will be involved. Hailed as a "reverse AA meeting," The Blackout Diaries has been a regular Critics' Pick in a variety of publications. $10. Friday, February 10 Drag Queen Bingo @ the US Cellular Center 7-10 pm New York City's famous Lady Bunny will MC the first of two evenings that support Brother Wolf Animal Rescue! On Friday, join the Queens and a whole cast of other delightful performers for a wild game of Bingo, complete with drag performances, food and drink, and general revelry. Then check out the after party at O. Henry's. $45/person with options for VIP and full table tickets. 'Love & Rage: A Valentines For Our TImes' Art Opening @ 474 Gallery Studio  7 pm Nearly two dozen local visual artists will be represented in this show, including Alli Good, Gus Cutty, Andy Herod, and Julie Wade. The opening party includes live music and readings. Now happening at 474 Gallery Studio (474 Haywood Rd. in West Asheville). WE GO BACK w/ In Plain Sight @ Calypso St. Lucian Caribbean Cuisine 9 pm - 2 am Beloved Asheville electronic outfit In Plain Sight returns to their original spot in the former Bobo Gallery on Lexington Ave (now Calypso St. Lucian Caribbean Cuisine-).
