Xpand Fest is Asheville's newest arts and music festival. With its unique focus on community arts and outreach, Xpand Fest fills a niche in the Asheville arts scene. For festival organizer Johanna Hagarty, of
Xpand Your Vision, the driving idea behind the festival is to bring community partners and artists together around sustainable development in and around town. The festival, which is free and open to the public, will be held on June 10th from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
This festival will make use of the buzzing South Slope and will take place on Banks and Buxton Ave. Sponsors and local non-profits will share presentations, displays, and information, and a nonprofit arts arcade will highlight the projects of the organizations that enrich our community through their work.
The Broadcast, The Fritz, Lyric, the Secret B Sides, and Supatight headline a diverse list of over 30 acts that will also include performing arts troupes. Over 35 food, art, and beverage vendors will be helping you stay satiated and hydrated, and Bhramari Brewhouse will reveal a special brew in honor of the festival.
Partners, like the
South Slope Neighborhood Association and
Art Studio World, have a local focus that is in line with the festival's ethos of giving back to the community.
