Ben Sollee
This Tuesday at 5:45 pm, the Orange Peel will be rocking with the sweet sounds of Ben Sollee, the renowned Kentucky-based cellist and composer known for his non-traditional playing style. Sollee has made music with many groundbreaking, genre-bending musicians, including Bela Fleck, Abigail Washburn, and Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), and has had an extensive and celebrated solo career. He's also known for his activism. This show, which benefits Oxfam International, will raise money and awareness for that cause. Along with the top-notch music, attendees can also come prepared for a fun, sweaty yoga practice with JP McLellan of Go Yoga. JP is certified in the Baptiste style of yoga and informed by other yoga paths he's also trained extensively in. His teaching is playful and intuitive and speaks to students at any level, including those totally new to yoga. The practice will be in conjunction with the show and will run 75 minutes, including a deep, peaceful savasana.  Oxfam International is a consortium of charities that work to end poverty across the world by "mobilizing the power of people against poverty." Sollee has been very active in his support of the organization. Bring your own mat for this class and prepare yourself for a night of dancing, yoga, and deep relaxation. Note: this is an earlier show than usual; doors open at 5! Tickets are $20 and $17 for Go Yoga members. We're giving away two tickets to this benefit concert + yoga class. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on our Facebook post!  Will we see you on the mat at the Orange Peel?
