REVOLVE Studio + Gallery in the River Arts District will host its first REVOLVE NIGHT, an evening of intimate experimental music, at the Asheville Guitar Bar on Saturday, 8/27 beginning at 8:30 pm. REVOLVE has been hosting musical performances in its space upstairs at the Cotton Mill Studios, but the Asheville Guitar Bar will add a new element to the gallery's goal of bringing experimental acts to Asheville venues. The evening's headliner will be the CP Quartet featuring Chris Pitsiokos, with guitaritst Shane Parish opening. Chris Pitsiokos is a saxophonist, composer, and improviser whose collaborations have included work with Lydia Lunch, Ikue Mori, and Weasel Walter. His sound brings together noise rock edges and jazz riffs, classical passages and avant-garde experimentation. The quartet features Pitsiokos on alto sax, Andrew Smiley on guitar, Henry Fraser on electric bass, and Jason Nazary on drums. The combination is an electrifying blend of noise and harmonies that blend and then, just as quickly, fall apart as new sounds move in to take their place.  Guitarist Shane Parish is a founding member of the acclaimed Asheville-based Ahleuchatistas. According to PopMatters, their recent album, Arrebato, is "deeply in the moment and yet somehow reflective... [It] seems to capture an immediate energy, and yet the mind behind all that physicality seems deep in meditation."  Parish brings this depth to his solo playing as well. Watching him perform is hypnotic, as his improvisational movements in his live shows create unfolding tapestries of sound that are works of uncaptured, ephemeral beauty. His extensive training allows him to infuse his sound with elements of Spanish Baroque music, blues, jazz, avant-contemporary classical, and other influences, through which he creates a wholly unique style.  The Asheville Guitar Bar is Asheville's newest music venue in the River Arts District. It joins the intimate aesthetic of a gallery space with the acoustics of a gorgeously-equipped listening room. Sidle up to the guitar-shaped bar and get some wine or a local beer as you prepare to enjoy your evening. A limited menu will soon offer items like Chef Joe Scully's handmade potato chips and the PaintBox Jam PB&J.  The show is $10 in advance/$12 at the door. The show starts at 8:30, with doors at 8:00. Purchase tickets in advance through REVOLVE
