From January 25-28, the New York Studio for Stage and Screen (NYS3) in Asheville is offering a free Winter Workshop Series in preparation for their Spring 2016 semester. The series comprises eleven free professional acting workshops focusing on acting, improv, voiceover and more. NYS3 is the Meisner Acting Conservatory for the Southeast. The
Meisner Technique, developed by Sanford Meisner, is "a thorough, clear, conscience-structured progression" that empowers the actor to "live and grow organically" through a process of self-discovery and self-inquiry.
As NYS3's Eamon Martin notes, "It's really an excellent (and fun) opportunity for anyone interested in experiencing for themselves, first-hand, what professional, industry-level acting conservatory education is like." It's a fantastic opportunity if you're interested in any part of the process, from acting to self-inquiry. Enrollment is open to everyone, regardless of previous experience, but it's likely to fill up, so be sure to reserve your space early. You can attend as many workshops as you like. The full roster of topics is as follows: the Meisner Acting Technique, Improv, Filmmaking, Movement for Actors, the Alexander Technique, Acting as a Business, Voiceover, Script Analysis, Voice & Speech, Auditioning, and The Artist’s Way for Actors.
