Beer City Festival 2014 If you're not packing up the car to head out of town for the three day weekend, we've got you covered. As per usual, Asheville is hosting great lineups of music and more this weekend and there's plenty to do. So, throw on something fun, grab your friends, and hit the town. Here are our weekend picks.   Asheville Beer Week Various Locations around Asheville May 22 - 30 | Times + prices vary | Check website for details It's that time again. Time to celebrate all things beer in Asheville with tons of tastings, parties, music, and beer, beer and more beer. It all culminates on Saturday, May 30th at the Beer City Festival at Roger McGuire Green which promises to be a "big community party." With lots of beer. Mr. Gorgeous, performing at the ABSF  Americana Burlesque & Sideshow Festival Various Locations around Asheville May 22- 24 | Time + prices vary | Check website for details Celebrating their ninth year, the Americana Burlesque & Sideshow Festival is celebrating the Vaudeville Revival in the city of free spirits. This three day festival will feature workshops, guest performances and headliner, Mr. Gorgeous.    The Doctor is in. Dr. John + The Nitetrippers New Mountain AVL May 22 | $32 | 6: 30 p.m. New Mountain has a great lineup this weekend of New Orleans inspired music, and Dr. John is the embodiement of the NOLA sound. This six time Grammy winner plays tunes that include blues, pop, jazz as well as zydeco, boogie woogie and rock and roll, so there's a little something for everyone. The Nitetrippers will be also be performing.   The Bassholes The Mothlight May 23 | $5- $20 | Doors at 8:30 p.m. | Show at 9 p.m. This two piece band whose name derived from graffiti above a urinal in a Columbus gyro joint quickly turned into a serious gig when they decided to take their music overseas to Europe, where people went nuts for their take on punk and country rock. They have now brought their music back to the states and back to the east coast for one night in Asheville. The Bassholes will be accompanied for much of the set by Asheville's keyboardist extraordinaire Kim Roney.   Dirty Dozen Brass Band New Mountain AVL May 24 | $22.50 | Doors at 8 p.m. | Show at 9 p.m. The New Orleans theme continues as the Dirty Dozen Brass Band help close out the weekend with a stompin' and groovin' good time. They cover classic tunes like "Saints" and "E-Flat Blues" also play original tunes inspired by their heroes. "“The challenge is still going to be, how am I going to entertain these people that are in front of me tonight? You have to make that happen at the moment, and that’s what we do best, " says trumpet player Gregory Davis.
