It’s impossible to miss that it’s Election Time. The incessant ads and memes and Facebook updates are enough to make you want to move to a remote island. Sick of the game as we all are, it doesn’t matter.
You still need to vote.
This go-round we’re voting for:
-
US Senate
-
US House of Reps
-
NC Senate
-
District Attorney
-
Buncombe County Board of Commissioners
-
Buncombe County Sheriff
-
NC Supreme Court Justices, NC Court of Appeals
-
Buncombe County Board of Education
-
The Buncombe County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor
Here are just a few reasons why you should vote:
- You earn your right to bitch.
- Because it’s terrible that you voted for American Idol or Dancing with the Stars or whatever and you can’t get off your ass to vote for something important.
- These local elections affect your day to day life more than the national elections.
- Only 30% of the population votes, which means if you don’t join them, you’re giving an awful lot of power to those jerks.
- When more people that don’t have an agenda vote, then the people with agendas don’t have as loud of a voice.
- Do you want only Baby Boomers running this show? Seriously?
- BONUS: You get a little sticker.
OK, so sure. Maybe you don’t like any of the current choices. That’s not a good enough reason to give up your option to choose and try to make a difference.
EARLY VOTING STARTS TODAY - Thursday, October 23, 2014 and Election Day is November 4.
