Jr. James, Flori Pate of Food Connection, and Ashley Heath Here’s some of what’s going around this weekend, including the big benefit concert on Saturday at the Grey Eagle for the nonprofit Food Connection, which collects leftover food from local restaurants and gets it to the hungry and homeless. All weekend long The Southern Conference men’s and women’s basketball tournament will be held this weekend at the US Cellular Center. The tournament features 10 teams from 10 universities from six Southeastern states. The games will draws thousands downtown for a weekend of basketball, as well as community events that include a Downtown Dribble on Saturday for kids and a Sunday outdoor tailgate party and concert featuring Lyric and Joe Lasher Jr. Thursday   ELON University astrophysicist Chris Richardson, who will present “​Exoplanets: Is There Another Earth?” at UNCA Reuter Center, 7-9 p.m. (talk approximately 7-8 p.m., with Astronomy Club business after)   Honor actor Bill Paxton, who recently passed away, by attending a 7 p.m. screening of Twister at Asheville Pizza and Brewing.   Friday Window Cat celebrates the release of their single “Agent Orange,” with a premiere on Asheville Grit and an interview and preview of the show here; at Isis Music Hall; opening for Nashville’s Dynamo; w/ members of Empire Strikes Brass.
