Sure, it might be a little rainy and gloomy now, but it's finally starting to feel like Spring is peeking its head out, so pack the puffy coats away and get outside. We've rounded up some of this weekend's picks.  Local Flavor AVL Benefit Concert for Food Connection The Altamont Theatre March 13 | Doors at 5 p.m. | Show at 6 p.m. | $25 Support a local charity, Food Connectionand enjoy some great music, during this five hour concert. Food Connection's priority is to make food more accesible and to prevent food waste by teaming up with Asheville Taxi to transfer leftover food to shelters. Music line up to include: Eleanor Underhill (of Underhill Rose) & Silas Durocher (of Get Right Band Duo), Andrew Scotchie & The River Rats, Jr. James & The Late Guitar, Red Honey, The Wilhelm Brothers, Posh Hammer, The Moon and You, and The Bread & Butter Band. Truck Load Sale French Broad Co-Op March 13  | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. | March 14 | noon - 5 p.m. Take advantage of this two day sale with crazy low prices on cases of your favorite Co-Op food. Manna Food Bank will be there taking food donations, Brother Wolf Rescue Mission will be there with a puppy adoption and Fifth Season Gardening Co. will be there with all your spring gardening supplies.   Paint a Dress for Success 310 ART Gallery March 14 | 3 – 6 p.m. Local fashion designer Stina Andersen brings art to life as she allows guests to paint her hand-crafted dresses on live models. Painting participants can pledge money through Kickstarter to add their own flare to the each model. However, if painting is not your thing, stick around for the 5:15 fashion show which will feature the finished products. 2nd annual Asheville Food Truck Showdown The Masonic Temple March 14 | noon- 8 p.m. It's rare to find two food trucks side-by-side, let alone eleven. But this Saturday that's what you'll get. Local All eleven trucks will be competing for "Best Truck in Asheville" and "People's Choice". DJ TJ will be providing beats for the afternoon as well as kids games and face painting. And for those 21 and over, an after party sponsored by PBR and Sailor Jerry Rum will start at 8 p.m. at Broadway's.   WAX Bacon Cook Off & Toga Party The Bywater March 15 | 6 p.m. Bacon and togas? Count us in! Twenty local cooks will enter their best dish, with one condition, bacon must be incorporated. Entries will be judged and the winner will take home a cash prize. But no need to feel sour if you lost. A dance party will round out the night.
